Around Town: Fresco Grill
Fresco Grill has long held a special place in our hearts. For years, it’s been our go-to for anniversaries and special nights out. This Bonsall restaurant is in North San Diego County yet you feel like you've been transported to a charming Italian villa. The extensive wine list, authentic flavors, warm service, and cozy, romantic ambience always make for a memorable evening.
One of our favorite traditions is to sit out on the patio as the sun begins to set, sipping wine and soaking in the quaint setting. On anniversary nights, we indulge in dishes like the Gamberoni Alla Nostromo, jumbo prawns served over a creamy lemon risotto, the Filetto Di Manzo Al Balsamico, and the perfectly cooked Rack of Lamb. Dessert is always a shared experience as we each order our own and swap bites between the velvety Crème Brûlée and rich Chocolate Lava Cake. We do come for the occasional casual meal with the kids and enjoy splitting a few pizzas and salads.
While Fresco Grill is known to us for its upscale dinner experience, I’m revisiting it this month to shine a light on a pleasant surprise, their daily Happy Hour from 4 PM to 6 PM. A girlfriend and I recently decided to try it out and were so glad we did. You’ll need to sit in the bar area to access the Happy Hour menu, but we were still able to enjoy a cozy booth. We shared the Insalata Saporita (so fresh and flavorful), the Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza, and the Ravioli Mushroom, all delicious and discounted. I paired it with a refreshing Lemon Drop Martini, the perfect sip for a warm summer evening. The Happy Hour menu is impressively broad, and if you’re like us, you’ll want to sample everything on it.
If you haven’t been, I encourage you to explore Fresco Grill's full menu on their website, you’ll see why we keep coming back. Whether for a milestone celebration or a casual catch-up with a friend, Fresco Grill always delivers something special. I hope it becomes one of your favorites too!
